Locations
Constructed in 1863, Congregation Emanu-El is Canada’s oldest synagogue building still in active use. Our remarkable sanctuary, a Romanesque Revival architectural gem, was designated as a National Historic Site in 1983.
Affiliated with the Conservative/Masorti Movement, Emanu-El is a progressive and egalitarian synagogue. Ilana and Jordan joined Emanu-El when Eva was a baby, and are so grateful for the wonderful community they have found there.
Attire: Comfortable. We will be dressed up because it’s a big deal day for us, but you will also see congregants dressed very casually.
Please note: Congregation Emanu-El has a strict NO SCENTS policy. We have a few members with serious allergies - please refrain from wearing any perfume or cologne. Thank you!

Transit & PARKING
Congregation Emanu-El is located in Victoria’s downtown core and is easily accessible by bus, bike, or on foot. For bus local bus schedules, please consult with Translink BC’s Trip Planner . For those biking, you might want to take advantage of the downtown bike valet.
Congregation Emanu-El does not have its own parking lot. The Johnson Street Parkade provides excellent synagogue access, and regular street parking is easily available as well. (Victorians will claim that parking downtown is an ordeal, but if you’re coming from Toronto or NYC, it’s a cake-walk.)

Attire: Something that makes you feel fancy, but you don’t need to dress formally. Wear comfortable shoes- we really want you to join us on the dance floor!
The Celebration
Music, friends, family, dancing , & dinner. A chance to celebrate Avi and our connection to them and to each other. Bring your warmth and good cheer - and did we mention we’d love to see you on the dance floor?
Parking
There is free parking and a big parking lot at The Edelweiss Club. The Club is also served by the #2 and #5 buses.
